Glittering Mosaics

Linda here with a cute little technique for glittering mosaics. Using scraps of pattern paper I cut 1-inch squares with my paper trimmer. These could be easily punched as well with a 1-inch square punch.

After all the squares were cut I ran them through the Xyron 2.5" Create-a-Sticker to put adhesive on the backside. Then I flipped the Xyron sticker sheet over and ran it through the machine again so the adhesive would be on both sides of the squares.

For this project I used Art Glitter Desert 266 and Goldenrod 305 Ultrafine Transparent glitters. I had several colors out but then opted to use only two contrasting colors. It was easy to put the glitters on the squares by simply pouring a good amount of each glitter into bead trays and using tweezers to dip the squares enough to coat one side.

I then placed them evenly apart on a background piece of paper and cut it down to fit an A2 card front when done. I actually started this as a scrapbook page (above) but it wasn't working for me so I switched over to a greeting card. I matted the mosaic paper and wrapped it with a pretty May Arts ribbon before adhering it to the card.

It still needed an embellishment so I reached for my good ol' corrugated heart stand-by and roughed it up a bit before brushing on some Designer Dries Clear and sprinkled it with some of the same glitters.

Light Up Your Sparkle

Glitter adds sparkle everywhere. Which is one of the things I love about it. Today's project is adding some bling to any room in your house, by adding glitter to the inside of your lampshade.

Supplies Used:
Lampshade
Designer Dries Clear Adhesive (unless your lamp is fabric on the inside, you can use Fabric Dries Clear)
#298 Polar Bear Ultrafine Transparent Glitter, plan for about 3/4 oz. per lampshade.
Paintbrushes

 Start with your lampshade.

Brush on a thin coat of adhesive to the the inside of the lampshade.

Pour on the glitter. and tap off. I did this in sections so the adhesive didn't dry up. When choosing glitter for the project, I chose transparent, because I wanted to make sure the lamp still had purpose. I wanted the light to still shine through, and have a glittery effect.

Go back and be sure to add adhesive and glitter to all of the places you may have missed. I  Saved the edges for the last part.

I waited until it was all dry and with a dry paintbrush brushed off any excess glitter. And this is what it looked like.

I put the lamp back together.

And turned it on. I wish you could see its beauty in person. It is truly a magical feeling.

The light took the glitter to a new sparkle level, and it looked AMAZING!

Pretty In Pink Birdhouse

Hello, Kristi again!  I did a cool birdhouse a couple of days ago and since I had everything out I did another one.  This time instead of colors from nature I used Pink and Purple!

I covered the roof in sections with Designer Dries Clear Adhesive.  I then applied  # 7 Red Rose Ultafine Opaque glitter to the roof of the house.

I covered the base, the perch and the trim under the roof with #115 Heather Ultrafine Opaque Glitter! Of all of the purples I just love this color.  As of this photo I was getting ready to adhere #616 Primrose Fine Glass Glitter.  It is heavier than Ultrafine but it is so pretty!

I let it all dry then took it outside to see how it looked in the tree!

Thanks for checking this out and hope you enjoyed and are inspired to make a nice fun sparkling spring project.  Sparkle On!
Come on over to my blog and see what else I am up to!

Dazzling Thank You

Dazzlers on a card?  Absolutely!  In fact, Dazzlers create an extra sparkling look.  Lets see how it was done.

MATERIALS:
Dazzlers D55 Queen's Robe (although you could use a combination of Roulette, Clover Leaf and Gypsy)
Microfine Opaque 527 New Wine
Microfine Opaque 516 Gold Tone
Microfine Opaque 514 Bavarian Forest
Microfine Opaque 506 Purple Morpho
Ultrafine Transparent 85 Crystal
Dreamweaver Stencil LX 7009 Paisley
Dreamweaver Stencil LG 748 Bold Thank You
Double Sided Mounting Paper
A Soft, High Vegetable Oil Bar Soap, such as Dreamweaver Handmade Hawaiian Coconut Soap
A Large Stencil Brush
Card Stock

DIRECTIONS:
1)  Rub the soap all over the back of the Thank You stencil.  It will be a a release agent from the adhesive paper, so make sure it is completely covered, leaving a light film of soap.
2)  Use the stencil brush to brush off any "soap crumbles" that have attached to the back of the stencil and in the cut out areas.
3)  Remove the adhesive from one side of the mounting paper, and lay the soaped side of the stencil over the sticky side of the paper.
4)  Pour Dazzlers over the stencil.  Rub in with your finger.
5)  You can see the "holes" left behind by the gaps between the Dazzlers.  We will fill those with the Microfine glitter.  Pinch out a little of the Microfine New Wine on the stencil and push it into the wells with your finger, covering the Dazzlers completely.
6)  Use the stencil brush to brush off all the excess glitter.
7)  Flip the stencil upside down on a flat surface and carefully remove the adhesive paper from the stencil.
8)  Cover the entire exposed area with Crystal glitter and brush off the excess.
9)  Repeat steps 1-3 using the Paisley stencil.
10)  Put small pinches of the various colors of Microfine glitter on sections of the stencil.
11)  Push the glitter from the stencils into the wells and press down with fingers.  Make sure everything is covered.
12)  Brush off all the excess glitter with the stencil brush.
13)  Repeat steps 7 and 8.
14)  Assemble the card.

So, thank you for stopping by.  Be sure to check out my blog at www.rememberinglifesmoments.blogspot.com some time for more glittery fun.  Until I see you again, Glitter On!

Shading With Glitter On Acetate

Hello all, Kristi here to share a couple of fun cards I created using Designers Dries Clear Glue and a lot of Ultra Fine and Micro Fine Glitter! You can do this a couple of ways. I start by stamping the image I am going to "color" in black Staz-on Ink on to the acetate.

This is the stamped image on acetate.  The white is only the paper.

.
These are the colors I am using, 3 purples, three yellow/clear and 2 green.

I start with my darkest color.  Because of the way the glitter is layered, I usually go from dark to light.  I also usually use greens first as they tend to corrupt the other colors  Before I put the glitter down I used a paintbrush and Designer Dries Clear Adhesive.  I also use a very SMALL amount of water with the glue.  It helps the dry time be less. If you apply with the fine metal tip the adhesive it goes on thicker.  I am can also move the glittered adhesive slightly with the brush to blend my colors.

This is with both colors of green and adding the first of the lavender colors.  I LOVE Heather!!

Now  I have added the shades of lavender and moved to the yellows.  I added a hint of Crystal just to add shimmer next comes a little blue just to give the image some sky.

This is the image all glittered!  Beautiful!!!  OH WAIT!!
When the glue is all dry and you flip the image over..this is how it looks! You then need to layer some cardstock and I added a stenciled image with a Dreamweaver Stencil!  This looked like an Easter Card to me so I added the word Rejoice!
Place Stencil.
Tape of stencil with removable tape and get out paste.

Spread the paste on like frosting a cake.

Take the excess off and then remove the tape.

While the paste is wet sprinkle with Martini Glitter.

This is your finished card!

Hope you enjoyed this post.  Make sure and leave a comment!

Glorious Glittered Goodness

It's February and I'm in the Pink! Pink mood that is ...

Linda here and I'm going to show you how I recycled last months Art Glitter project. Remember the little candy jars I made to put Valentine candy in last month? I converted it to reuse as a small vase.

Recycled jar used to hold glittered 3-D flowers.

I'm ready for Spring and flowers so I used my Sizzix Flower, 3-D Wrapped die to cut several layers of pattern paper and coordinating cardstock. Truth be told, I've owned this flower die for about two years and have never used it. I quite like it!

Coordinating pattern paper and cardstock but with Sizzix Flower, 3-D Wrapped die.

After I had them all cut, I inked the edges with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink and randomly stamped images on the cardstock to help create texture. I followed the directions that came with the die to wrap and adhere the flower layers. Instead of a skewer I used a thicker black wire and stuck them in a wine cork.

Flower layers inked and ready to assemble onto a wire stem.

The flower layers are rolled and adhered to the wire. I used Designer Dries Clear Adhesive  (DDCA) to glue the individual layers together because it sets up so quickly. The flower layers are stacked alternating pattern paper and cardstock to mix them up a bit. I let them set up a bit while I went for dinner.

Rolled flowers attached to wire. A ribbon is knotted to the flower center.
The glue was totally dry when I came home and they were ready for me to add the glittery goodness. I applied DDCA around all the edge layers of the flowers with a detail brush. Working quickly I sprinkled the flower with Tea Rose Ultrafine Opaque glitter and tapped the excess off into a catcher tray. I did this to all three flowers. Then I pierced a hole into each of three corks and inserted the gloriously glittered flowers!

Gloriously glittered 3-D flowers.
I didn't know what to set them in, then I spotted the Valentine candy jar I made last month with the corrugated glittered strip around the center. It was a perfect little vase for these perfect pink flowers once I tied a pretty pink ribbon around the cardboard.

Valentine Decorations With Art Glitter

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays because it is filled with hearts! Hearts are one of my favorites! Today I wanted to decorate my best friend's mantle, so I made some heart garland.

Products Used:
Red Cardstock
A heart shaped punch or die cut
Sewing Machine
Thread

I will start by saying, I have never sewn on paper before and it was much easier than I thought.

I started by cutting out a bunch of hearts out of the cardstock. I used my Cricut Expression and a cartridge with hearts. I ended up cutting about 40 hearts but did not use them all.

I then took the hearts to the sewing machine. After the thread and bobbin were ready, I sewed across the first heart. I pulled the heart off the the side at the edge of the machine so that each heart would be equally spaced apart from the other.

I continued adding hearts until I had as many as I needed.

I then took the long string of hearts to the other room where I added a thin layer of Designer Dries Clear Adhesive to one side of each heart, then added #360 Pretty Pink Transparent Glitter to it. I did this to each of the hearts.

After I shook off all the glitter, I strung the hearts across the mantle.

I love how the glitter turned the red hearts pink. It is transparent, but it has the red/pink hue to it.

I hope you enjoyed this pretty and yet simple project to add some sparkle and hearts to your Valentine's Day! Now be sure to stop by my blog one.heart.scrapper. to see another glittery Valentine's Day Project!
